About SEO Bird Life
SEO/Bird Life, born in 1954, is the oldest and largest conservation NGO in Spain, serving as the Spanish partner of Bird Life International, a global network spanning over 120 countries. SEO (Spanish Ornithological Society) blends scientific research with conservation and restoration ecology, as well as citizen science. SEO acts as the intermediary linking this research with regional policymaking and local communities.
SEO brings together the expertise of more than 120 professionals and 13M€ per year. Furthermore, the work of SEO is supported by over 28 K members, who provide local volunteer work, funding and scientific data needed to sustain SEO’s daily conservation efforts.
SEO Bird Life's role in the consortium
SEO offers a deep expertise in wetland restoration, avian conservation, and ecosystem service assessment in Mediterranean wetland-rice landscapes. Therefore, SEO/Birdlife will bridge conservation and sustainable farming across Mediterranean wetland-rice landscapes. The organisation coordinates stakeholder engagement directly at field sites and co-develops participatory tools and platforms to foster inclusive knowledge exchange among farmers, conservationists, and researchers.
