Doğa Derneği

About Doğa Darneği

Doğa Derneği is a Turkish nature conservation organisation established in 2002, working to protect biodiversity and living landscapes across Türkiye and the Mediterranean. As the Turkish partner of BirdLife International, Doğa bridges conservation science with traditional ecological knowledge, uniting local communities, scientists, farmers, and decision-makers. With extensive experience in wetland restoration, species monitoring, policy advocacy, and community-led stewardship, the organisation works to strengthen climate resilience and foster landscapes where nature and human society thrive in harmony.

Doğa's role in the consortium

Doğa Derneği leads the implementation of the Turkish pilot site in the Gediz Delta within the ReMEDI project. Focusing on climate-resilient agricultural transition under severe water scarcity, Doğa coordinates the co-design and demonstration of biodiversity-oriented mixed farming models, including dry-farming practices and nature-compatible pasture management using local livestock varieties. The organisation drives local Living Lab activities, farmer capacity building, and multi-actor engagement. Furthermore, Doğa leads regional policy recommendations for wetland agroecosystem governance under future climate and water-stress scenarios across the Mediterranean.
